Our Core BeliefsPower of Hope Ministries is a ministry that believes the entire Bible is complete and infallible. Though the Word of God was written by men it was inspired by God (2nd Timothy 3:16). And because the Bible is inspired by God, and God does not change (Malachi 3:6, James 1:17), we now know exactly what is expected from us for Godly living.
In addition, Power of Hope Ministries is a non-traditional God fearing, God believing, God trusting ministry. This is not a ministry of great complexity but rather simplicity. What we believe: I. The Holy Scripture
The Holy Scripture is God's inspired word. It is infallible (without error) and contains the information to guide a believer to walk the path of a godly life. In it we will find what God desires of us and how we should do these things. (For your review - II Timothy 3:16-17)
II. The State of Man
The state of man is evil in every way. There is nothing in man that is good and catches the attention of God. You were born in iniquity which means you were unacceptable in the sight of God. This state was handed down to you through the disobedience that Adam committed in the Garden of Eden. (For your review - Psalm 51:5, Romans 5:12)
III. Salvation
This is what erases our sin nature. Salvation is through the grace of God which is to say the unmerited favor of God towards those that believe in God. Salvation is an act that the Lord bestowes to the believer and not something that the sinner figures out on his/her own. Salvation is also something that the sinner can not achieve by doing certain acts or work. (For your review - Ephesians 1:6,7; 2:8,9)
IV. The Trinity
The Trinity is the foundation of Christianity. This Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. With these three beings of the Holy Trinity there are three items that are crucial to them and must be taken into account:
- God is three persons - Each of the three persons is God - There is only one God
(Each of these three items will be reviewed as you continue)
Three Persons As we review the Old Testament the book of Genesis shows us how there is conversation between two or more people. We are not able to tell the exact number of people but we are able to see that there is more than one. Also notice that in the scripture given from the book of Isaiah we can see the usage of both singular and plural tense. - Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:17 - Psalm 110:1 - Isaiah 6:8 - Hosea 1:7 - Zechariah 12:10 - Malachi 3:1
When looking into the New Testament we will get a more clear idea of how the Father , Son, and Holy Ghost are equal and one. - Matthew 28:19 - John 1:1 - Ephesians 4:4-6 - Jude 24,25
Each Three Persons is God In the last section we got to see how the Trinity was/is one. In this section, in just a few verses, we will see how the three that make up the Trinity are indeed God. God - Genesis 1:1 Jesus - John 1:1, 14 Holy Ghost - Psalm 139:8
There is One God Deuteronomy 6:4 Isaiah 45:5-6 Romans 3:30 James 2:19
